 Deacon Terrance Downey passed away on Friday, January 29, 2010, at the age of 63.
Deacon Downey has been assigned to Our Lady of Hope Parish, St. Clair Shores, since the merger of St. Gertrude and St. Germaine Parishes in July 2009. Prior to that time, he was assigned to St. Germaine Parish since his ordination in October 1987.
Deacon Downey leaves his wife, Susan, four children, a number of other family members, and the community of Our Lady of Hope.
Deacon Downey will lie in state on Tuesday, February 2, 2010, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Hope Parish (St. Germaine Campus), 28301 Little Mack, St. Clair Shores. A vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Hope Parish (St. Gertrude Campus), 28839 Jefferson, St. Clair Shores. A funeral luncheon will follow at the St. Germaine Campus Activity Center. Visiting clergy are asked to vest in the religious education building.
Arrangements have been handled by Kaul Funeral Home, St. Clair Shores.
